Has Joey always been biologically dispositioned towards the imaginative, or has he been socialized to accept that this is an appropriate and encouraged form of play. All my brothers seem to think dressing up is fun. But I know this is not something that all boys, or girls, get excited by. You can count on us Haugo's to show no inhibitions come October 31!

I've decided to stay in Hawaii

It was a hard decision, but I weighed the pros and cons and my life in hawaii is far more appealing.
Unfortunatly the pros and cons aren't always the final authority, sometimes my hands are tied, sometimes I just have to do the right thing.

I wanted to stay, but I came home anyway.

I'm sitting in my political science class right now, I flew in this morning, and it seems like the last week was a dream. It went so fast. I have a lot to do this week, 2 big papers I haven't started. I would rather be surfing.

Eliot

I'm sure you guys have heard me talking about my cousin Eliot befoe. We lived in Hawaii at the same time. He's just a little younger then me and in the US army. Anyway he is in Iraq for the second time right now, and living a crazy life that I can't even imagine. INTENSE! Total contrast to the times we got to kick back on the beach last year. He is in charge of a bunch of guys, and the stories I are hear are through aunts and super censored but so insane. This week he got shot. The bullet ricocheted off a cinder block and stuck in his shoulder. The medic that was with their platoon, stitched him up on the spot! This is war folks. Luckly he is totally fine, and without more then a minute to rest they sent him back out there. Anyway if you get a second pray for Eliot and the boys he's with. They are dealing with hell everyday. This war is so complicated, and it's hard to know where to stand on it, but there are real guys out there, fun ones that you'd want to be friends with. I'm just thinking about Eliot tonight and wishing he was in Hawaii still, I miss that guy.

hawaiian earthquake

So this morning I called Domi and he said that there had just been an earthquake. It turns out that there was a 6.5 quake just off of the Big Island. The last I talked to him tonight there still wasn't power on Oahu. It's quite crazy at the airport as no planes were taking off and many tourists were standing around in the dark. Luckly no one was hurt on any of the islands but there has been some landslides. It also has been pouring rain, with flash flood warnings. I might need by rain boots, 3 more sleeps!

The news today

So I guess all that studying paid off! 92% on the sociology midterm woot hoot!
I have a Poli Sci one tomorrow, but I'm not going to be scared of a little blogging, I'll be alright.

One week tomorrow i'll be taking off back to Hawaii, I wish it was today.

I'm looking forward to hanging out with Melissa and Chad's new baby Ava. Who I'm officially a "Hawaiian Auntie" of. I'm excited to get in the water, and just hang out. I think Domi's ready for me to be there, he's been "saying it with flowers".

I came home last night to a cute birthday party with my brothers. Highlights were: Joey spelled out in glow-in-the-dark silly string on the drive way " HBD ANG " and then had a silly string picture of my head, it was great. He also ordered me a year subscription to Allure magazine, all on his own, what a darling 10 year old. He's selling subscriptions to all sorts of magazines for his school, so if you are interested, give him a call.

After dinner we had a "birthday bounce" on the trampoline, Justin, Dad, Joey, and me, all at the same time. Feel free to come over on your birthday, the Haugo's always love a birthday bounce.

I guess I'll go study now... after I go for a walk on the beach.

Birthday Weekend!

So I want so badly to post everything about my weekend, and all the pictures, and just stay up and talk to you guys all night....but I have a sociology midterm tomorrow, and then a political science one after that. So I will reward myself the posting of a picture for every chapter I study. new internet lingo---blogovation (using your blog to motivate you to do things you dont want to do, the spelling could remind you of the word ovulation, but it really has nothing to do with the definition.) I have already finished one chapter so here is my reward...to myself. (this is so weird)

Last night was Magic

Thank you so much girls for the beautiful memory. I'm off to the grandma's so I don't have a chance to post the pictures.
It was one of those rare nights that I know I will never forget.
I'm lucky to have friends like you.

Sunset Picnic

So this summer I went to a wedding at Ferguson Point in Stanley Park. It is so beautiful I knew I had to have a picnic there. This weekend Alyssa is in town and my friend Joanna is coming over from the island.
So I thought it would be really special to have a sunset picnic up there.
If you think you can make it out, we'll be up there around 5:30 on Friday night.
It is so beautiful, but wear a coat cause it's getting cold.
It's right in front of the Sequoia grill so maybe we'll end up in there for dessert.

To get there, off georgia, you have to drive all the way around the park, past prospect point, and third beach.
I look forward to being with whoever can make it!

Conversations with Domi

Well getting Domi involved in the blog world, sure was interesting.
Now I know most of you don't know him very well, because he only will come to Canada if someone gets married.



I wonder if he would respond if we asked him questions.
Think of some things about Domi that you would like to know, and we'll see if he responds!
Maybe we can have an ongoing "ask domi", he knows a lot about camara equipment, surfing, and cars. So don't ask him about that stuff, make it hard. :)

Best Distraction Ever!

Thanks Lynn and Alyssa for calling and distracting me from my impending papers this sunday afternoon. It was great to hear the latest on the weddings. I will be keeping my ears open this week about flowers and bands as per your request. I can't wait for Alyssa to be here this week, that will be the greatest! We have plans for a film fest movie on Friday if anyone wants to come along. Perhaps it will be followed by martinis at Republic, the new club on granville, for you out of towners.
Then I'm heading to Port Angeles to host a bridal shower for my cousin Rachel's wedding. She's getting married on Oahu, and I'm thrilled with her choice...
17 days till I go back to hawaii.
