A party worth blogging about

So this year I've gone to a lot of parties. Before the end of the summer I will have gone to over 70 shindigs. I've seen a lot of great ones but every once in a while one floors me.
Domi calls this "upping the wedding ante".
This weekend we did a party at a private house. I am going to be very careful with the words I use because I do not want this blog to show up on any search to do with this party. I could get in trouble.
Anyway it fulfilled all of my "super sweet sixteen" fantasies.
It was extremely branded with party logos on everything from cups to our "staff shirts" .
The theme was "orange county" and orange was used extensively and looked fabulous.
There were tents all around the backyard with beds to chill on. Cocktail bar, great dj, loads of flowers (giant arrangement floating in the pool), topless male models serving, espresso bar, roving spot lights in the sky. It was totally insane and I don't think the quick shots I took did it justice.
Here are a few pictures, to get the whole story we'll have to talk in person.
(please do not use the name of the event in your comments)

Keeping up with the boys

Guess who this is?

ha ha! It's me!
Domi and Jordan took me up for a very "extreme" downhill mountain bike ride this afternoon.
It was very very hot out. It was at least 85 degrees and with all that gear on, riding up the hill was a struggle. But the downhill was really fun.

Climbing the hill I was thinking "this is just like hot yoga".

Domi was obviously very proud!

wedded blog bliss

So as the big day approaches, there is a lot of info that has to get out. (to you) I don't want to hog my blog with wedding talk, so there is a (cringe) wedding website!

The future Doliente's!

I had to, it's free.
You can't get these kind of sites for free if you aren't advertising your wedding.

So if you are looking for any info, you might find it on there. We will try to keep it updated.

An internet time capsule

So before there was facebook, there was myspace, and before that (for some of us) there was snowboard.com.
I hadn't logged in since 2005 but just went on today and found some treasures, it's like a time capsule.
If you walked away from your blog/facebook today and didn't look at it for a couple years, you would find it facinating.

One week of Abbotsford fame

I got a photo credit in the Abbotsford Times this week. It was for the senior boys provincial basketball game. Yep, I was there shooting.
Intense final with a WRCA upset to Abby.
I made the paper. Bec, can you cut it out for me? :)

Vera for the masses

I heard on Oprah a few weeks ago that Vera Wang has launched an affordable line called Simply Vera through the US department store Kohl's. I went down to b-ham to check it out right away.
The highlights are the sunglasses and purses. I bought a navy wrap sweater. They also have leggings, dresses, coats and everything is under $100.

The best part is that because Kohl's is a department store, stuff goes on sale all the time. When I stopped in, there were plenty of Simply Vera things for 40% off.
Go check it out next time you hit the Bellis.

My debut

So, a couple weeks ago some kid I know facebooks me to ask if i want to be in her movie she was doing for class. It turns out that she was doing it with Chelsea's brother Scott.
So I spent some time learning to walk backwards, ha.
Anyway here's my little acting debut.

How not to be annoying

Today on my google.ca homepage a "How to" article caught my eye. Right above "how to build a work bench" was an article called "How to Not be Annoying".
Intriguing:
One highlight for me was -
"Break counterproductive habits. Let's say you've found that you laugh loudly at everyone's jokes, even if they're not all that funny, or perhaps you've gotten in the habit of laughing at inappropriate times. Maybe you started doing it subconsciously because you thought being jubilant and quick to laugh made you more likable, but now all it's doing is annoying everyone you spend time with.

Then there was this priceless picture. Annoying bridesmaids = awesome!

The best part of the picture is that it was chosen from some random persons flickr site. These girls are the poster children for "annoying"
sucks to be them.

If you are wondering if you might be annoying, be on the look out for faces like this.

If it is verified by more people than just your family that you are in fact annoying, in my opinion the only solution is to buy a lot of great presents for everyone you know.

Cause there is no way someone can call you annoying if they are stoked on their new present!
Good luck breaking that laughing at the wrong time habit, that one is killer.

Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Today is the first day of Chinese New Year,so I went down to Aberdeen Center in Richmond to get in on the action.
Chinese New Year is a really good party. The lion dancers are incredibly athletic and their show is totally entertaining.
If you get a chance this week to take in some of the New Years celebrations, it's a really good time.
Did you know that the Lions throw lettuce into the crowd?
The China town festivities happen on Sunday.
Lions, dragons, red envelopes, drums, lanterns, food. If you aren't Chinese, you'll wish you were.

I'm SORRY it's taken so long to blog. I know you are still checking, so sorry for wasting your time! Obviously a lot has happened in my life this month and I guess I didn't know where to start.

1. I'm engaged
a) Domi proposed on New Years eve, it was very special and we celebrated in Whistler with some of our favorite people
b) we are planning our wedding for next New Years Day in Hawaii (the wedding deserves a blog of it's own and may have one as it gets nearer)

2. I've started a new business
a)www.photoboothvancouver.com
b) We rent photobooths for weddings and other events.
c) It's the coolest idea and very exciting develop.

3. As I'm busy with life, this blog may not be updated as much as we both like.
However my Journalism life now is requiring me to blog so there will always be something in writing. I will try to be more diligent.

Schools Done!

It feels great. In 5 days I leave for Hawaii and that also feels great.
Sometimes I forget how great it is there and then I look at the triple crown of surfing website and see what I'm missing.
I'm very excited to get out in the sand and watch the waves.
Now I have to go dig up some summer clothes.
I got my haircut today, thanks Jacqui your the best!
I'm loving my bangs.

Anyway life is pretty busy before I go, but if I'm going to The Cellar to dance tomorrow if anyone wants to boogie.

If I don't see you, have a great week getting ready for Christmas, I'll be back on the 24th. Then on the 27th Domi will get here. This is the best month ever! (best buy commercial voice)

the most extreme of internet sports

This is a dark look into Domi's favorite addiction.

This is the world of online shopping/auctions, the more aggressive side of Christmas.

Lately we have both been drawn into the compulsive checking of two favorite sites that sell deals for a short amount of time (sometimes for only 5 minutes).

Transactions happen so quickly
The question is not "will you buy the item"
it is "will you return the item"

It's a fantastic game of chance, luck, and having your credit card handy.

enjoy
